The Owl 9/12/2024

Meet Erin Cooley!

We are excited to introduce our new Director of Enrollment Management, Erin Cooley! Erin has many years of experience in admission and enrollment, most recently at Cedarwood Waldorf and Reed College. Earlier in her career, she oversaw international exchange programs for student and adult leaders both here and abroad. Here is a note from Erin:

Hello! I’ve been working in enrollment at the high school, college, and Pre-K-Grade 8 level for most of my career and I’m especially interested in international and multilingual education. I studied abroad in Germany during high school, and have studied Spanish, and a tiny bit of Russian too! I enjoy reading, hiking, and I’m hoping to take my SUP out again before the rainy weather returns.

I’m very excited to be here at ISP, learning about this wonderful school, seeing the students in action, and welcoming new families!

Welcome, Erin!

Hispanic Heritage Month – Join us for Spanish Track Language & Culture Day!

ISP is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th through October 15th. Dating back to 1968, Hispanic Heritage Month honors contributions by people of Hispanic identity. At ISP, we’re excited to celebrate the diverse cultures and countries within our Spanish Track and school community at large!

Next Friday, September 20th, ISP will be hosting a special Spanish Track Language and Culture Day! The event will be split held both during the school day AND after school, so that as many ISP community members can enjoy it.

The after school portion will involve music, games, snacks, and other activities. Please come by between 3-4pm to enjoy and celebrate!

We would love to have some more parent volunteers help support the after school portion of the event! Below is the link for more information about the volunteer opportunities and to sign up.

SchoolPass & Attendance Reminders

Absences, Appointments, Late Arrivals
Please enter absences/appointments/late arrival/etc. into School Pass by clicking the “+” in the app. This updates attendance, notifies the front desk, and notifies the teacher. Please do not email the teacher directly. The message can get lost if there is a substitute.

Adding ISP Parents as Carpool Families to SchoolPass
Reminder: Only non-ISP parents can be entered under “Drivers” (ex. a nanny, grandma, neighbor, etc) within MySchool App. To add an ISP family as authorized driver of your child, you need to use the Carpool section of the app. ISP parents are already listed under “carpool” for pickup selection through search. If a family enters an existing ISP parent as a personal “driver”, it creates multiple accounts and errors in the app.

Thank you!

Not Getting Text Notifications from ISP? Here’s How to Opt-In!

ISP uses a mass notification system that enables school personnel to notify all households and parents within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes an early dismissal, school cancellation, or a late start. The service also may be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders, like on our weekly Wednesday early dismissal days.

New families should have received a text message asking for you to opt-in to receive text messages.

If you did not respond, you are likely not receiving text messages.

Miss the text invite? Have no fear! New and returning families alike can STILL opt-in to receive text messages from ISP! Opt-in by texting the word “Yes” to 87569. You should be all set!

Monthly meetings have begun again, and you’re invited! Join us this Friday to learn more about Parent Network happenings and how to get more involved now or in the future. If you are a current parent at the school, you are already a member of the Parent Network! 🙂
