Update from Robert Woods
Dear ISP Community Members,
Welcome back to ISP 2013. This promises to be an eventful year for our school in many ways. As we open in the new year, we find ourselves moving from tenants of rented facilities to owners, as the Hilltop building as well as all of the property between Caruthers and Sherman now belong to ISP. This purchase will offer us many facilities options as we continue to establish our permanence in the area.
In December, ISP Board President Matt Schweitzer sent parents the board’s Charge to the Head of School. This document identifies Head of School responsibilities, which are aligned with the school’s Strategic Plan and designed to move the school closer towards its stated vision. I will share further details as we put specific plans in place.
As a result of the November auction and the very enthusiastic and supportive response to the Special Appeal, we have already purchased 40 additional laptops as well as a charging and storage unit. This will go a long way to ease the pressure on the checkout schedule, as technology is now part of so many lessons across the elementary grades in particular.
This new year we are welcoming a new staff member, Ida Jenkins. Ida will be the Summer Camp Coordinator and will also be responsible for coordinating Capstone fifth grade trips abroad and transportation for field trips. We are very pleased that Ida will be joining us at ISP and look forward to her starting later this month.
Happy New Year,
Robert Woods, Head of School, RobertW@intlschool.org, 503-226-2496 x122
