Update from Maria Abad

Yesterday, a group of Japanese Kindergartners knocked at my door to complete an assignment. One of the kids explained that they were creating a chart to find out how much Japanese the staff members spoke and of course my answer was very close to zero. The kid’s faces lit up greatly when they shared with me that they knew a lot more Japanese than I do – which indeed it is very true.

After this I was reflecting and thinking that often we take for granted and do not acknowledge enough how ahead of the game our students are. The challenges that they encounter every day at school are greater than anything that is written in our curriculum, and at the end of the day they go home happy and feeling proud of themselves.  I can say that all of our students are indeed already gifted kids not just academically but also culturally.
