Cultural Exchange with Japanese Middle Schoolers!

Thirteen Middle School students from the city of Hachinohe in Japan arrived this past Saturday! They have enjoyed staying with ISP families, engaging in cultural activities, eating American food, and being a part of the ISP Community. ISP students got to participate in cultural activities that Hachinohe students have introduced. Both groups are enjoying building friendships!

This is the first time that some of the Hachinohe students have traveled abroad; for some, this has even been their very first plane ride! Big thank you to all the ISP host families for making their many “First” experiences valuable and memorable!

Plastic Bag & Film Recycling at ISP!

ISP has a plastic bag and film (including bubble wrap) recycling program. If you have any plastic bags and film that you like to recycle, please drop them off in the blue bin by the fridge next to the Library (bottom floor of Learners’ Hall.

As you know, plastic film and bags are some of the most common forms of plastic waste that often end up in landfills and contribute to pollution. By recycling them, we have an opportunity to make a positive impact on our environment while also teaching our students about responsible waste management!

Happy recycling🌱🌱🌱

Walk & Roll to School Day – October 9th

October 9th is International Walk and Roll to School Day! Not to be confused with the National Walk and Roll Day in May.:)

In its honor, the ISP Green Team will be hosting a Bike Bus to school, followed by coffee! What is a bike bus? Basically, it’s a group of people biking together to a destination. Bike buses to school have become a movement! They help reduce our carbon footprint, they ARE SUPER FUN, and they can help us advocate for safer routes to school for all our students, faculty, and staff.

Meet-up location and time will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more details!

For questions, please contact Reid T.

Apple Picking at Kiyokawa Farm!

Join fellow ISP Families for a morning of apple picking! This is an informal gathering and is organized by the ISP Parent Network.

Date: Saturday, October 12th
Place: Kiyokawa Family Orchards (5625 Hutson Rd, Parkdale, OR 97041)
Estimated meeting time: 9:30 am (Approximately 1-1.5 hours from Portland)

Please RSVP here so we know who to look out for!

We recommend that families pack a picnic; there may also be a food truck to grab a bite for lunch. FYI, leashed dogs are allowed in the U-Pick area. It is also recommended to bring your own wagon if you have one, as the farm has a limited quantity of wagons to use.

For any questions, contact Stephanie K (Parent Network Chair) at parentnetwork@intlschool.org.

Thanks to the ISP Parent Network for organizing!
