The Owl 4/20/22

It’s Exhibition Time!

Exhibition is happening! For the next two days, our Fifth Graders are presenting to students across the school in their target language. YOU are invited to come see them tomorrow night! The evening event is specifically for families and the wider community and will be shared in English.

What: Celebrate the 5th grade Exhibition!
When: April 21, 2022 6:00-7:30 pm
Where: Learner’s Hall and surrounding areas on campus

The Exhibition is the culminating experience of students at ISP. It is an independent and collaborative inquiry into a global issue of their choice, using both English and the target language. Students design their inquiry, engage in multiple kinds of research, and then decide how to present their findings to the community. Every 5th grader at ISP participates in this experience.

If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Rogers, IB Coordinator, at k rogers@intlschool.org.

Important Health & Safety Reminders – Please report illnesses!

Expired WVT Lab Testing tubes

Unfortunately, there seems to have been an issue with botched tests from WVT labs (Early Childhood/nasal swab tests) this week. A significant number of tests were rejected due to expired tubes. Please check your tubes from WVT Labs to make sure that they are not expired. We are still looking into the situation, and are so sorry for any inconvenience.
WVT Labs has now sent us new tubes. Unfortunately, they look exactly like the ones that OHSU is using.
Please be extra careful with which bin they are putting your sample in.

Please Report Positive Cases!

As a reminder, PLEASE report all positive cases in your household immediately to the school. This includes cases caught through OHSU testing. ISP does NOT automatically receive test results for your students. It is your responsibility to notify us of positive results! This is crucial for contact tracing and notification.

Please report a positive case as soon as possible to health @ intlschool.org.

Thank you very much for your continued cooperation!

Student-Led Conferences

Conferences are coming up! Unlike the other two conferences of the year, these will be student-led and IN-PERSON! These conferences are offered to PreK through 4th Grade students (5th Grade Parents: your “conference” is Exhibition!)

FRIDAY, APRIL 29
IN-PERSON!

WHAT ARE STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES?
A celebration of learning!
Led completely by the student
An opportunity for students to take ownership and to demonstrate their learning to their families
A common practice in PYP schools all over the world
In person!
Something new for ISP!
Check out more information about the conferences here: Student-led conferences.pdf

THEY ARE NOT…
“normal” conferences. They are not a time to discuss issues or concerns with the teacher. This time is all about celebrating your child and giving them a chance to shine!
If you need to discuss an issue or concern, set up a separate time to meet with your teacher.
SIGN UP FOR STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES
Conferences will last about thirty minutes each. There may be up to three families in the conference at once; slots will be staggered (so don’t be confused when you see 5-minute increments on the sign up).
IMPORTANT – PARENTS OF TWINS: Please book your twins’ times separately, if possible, so that there is no overlap. This should be dedicated time for both of them!

If you have any questions or issues with the system, please contact Tara Bohr at TaraB @ intlschool.org

This event will take place outdoors and guests will have the opportunity to meet with library staff and participate in a library tour inside Learners Hall. We need several volunteers for this event. If you are interested in helping, please sign up here!

Teacher Appreciation Week is Coming Up!

Teacher Appreciation Week is from May 2 – 6. It is earlier than we typically have had it, as we are now aligning it with the national week. Teacher Appreciation Week is a wonderful way to break up a work day with a delightful treat and make our beloved teachers feel special. All classes and students can participate!

Please check with your room parent if you have not received an email with more details about how you and your student(s) can participate!
