ISP awarded Solar Education Grant

International School of Portland has been awarded a solar education grant from PGE! This will enable us to procure the Solar 4R Schools education program from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF).  Solar 4R Schools provides teacher training, science kits, teacher-generated activities and real-time access to energy generation data from 200+ solar systems nationwide to empower our students to become the next generation of clean energy leaders.

This Friday, a 6.4 kilowatt solar power system will be installed on the roof of Learners’ Hall. The array is forecasted to generate roughly 6,600 kilowatt-hours of energy for the building each year – enough to power 1-2 Portland homes annually!

We’ll also be including an interactive kiosk in the first floor of the building.  This will display real time energy production of the solar system. Having solar panels on the very building in which they are studying them will be a huge benefit!

ISP parent Andy Noel and his company Milo Solar, LLC worked for many hours to secure the panels, grant, and permits for our school. HUGE thanks to Andy and Milo Solar for helping to make this project possible!
