3rd-5th graders have fun while helping kids in West Africa
The ISP 3rd-5th grade classes have been working with African Sports Outreach (ASO) to send soccer uniforms, footwear and equipment to at-risk youth and orphans in West Africa through the ASO Passback Program.
On Friday, June 7, the students hosted an after school ice cream social fundraiser to benefit ASO. ASO Founder Paul Goodrich and three of his ASO-USA trained students, including ISP Chinese track graduate Brandon Faro, were at the event demonstrating soccer skills taught at the ASO soccer academies in West Africa. The ISP kids had a great time playing soccer and testing their skills against the ASO-USA students, and kids of all ages enjoyed popsicles and fresh gelato donated by Caffé Pallino (SE Portland) and Caffè Umbria (Pearl District). It all added up to another great ISP community effort, with all $450 in event proceeds going to support the ASO Passback Program.
To contribute to this year’s ASO effort, please bring your check (payable to African Sports Outreach) to any ISP reception desk through Wed, June 12.
