from Maria Abad – 5/13

As we wrap up this year we reflect on the list of things that must be completed every school year. We have to acknowledge that great things have happened already in our classrooms and around the school. There have been many accomplishments – some more visible than others but all equally important.

As educators we are constantly reflecting on our own practices and brainstorming ideas of how to refine them while interacting with students in the classrooms and the parents – whether it is celebrating fun events or having difficult conversations and handling sad situations. We also reflect with our co-workers at school while planning meetings, providing support when needed, or just by opening our door as a safe space to come and share.

As we approach the last weeks of school. I would like to invite you to take some time to talk to your kids and reflect on this year’s experience. To learn about their favorite moments, and also their challenges and how they overcame them. It is important to keep in mind that while growing up and especially at school, most interactions between children-children, or adults with children, are or can be learning moments that teach us life long lessons.
