News from Alfonso – 5/29
Greetings friends,
Well, last week saw another very successful mile run for grades 1-5. Coach Robert reports that many students ran personal bests, and a number of them ran in the 95th percentile for their age group nationally. Thanks to coach and Linda Bonder and to all the parents who helped run the event!
Thank you to those who have completed the Parent Survey so far. Unfortunately there are still many classes with only a few respondents – that makes it difficult to give the teachers complete feedback. Please take a few moments to complete the survey before May 31 at intlschool.org/survey.
Our Development Director Kelsey Cleveland will be moving on in June after classes end, and we want to thank her for establishing the Development Office at ISP and setting the stage for further growth in our fundraising. We wish her all the best in her next endeavor.
Lauren Hostetler, who in addition to holding down the fort at Stearns Hall, has been working on Marketing with Linda, will now assume the role of Development Coordinator. As part of that role she will be the school’s point person in spearheading the auction. She will be working closely with auction chair Michelle Murff to create another exciting successful event. The auction will again be at the Portland Art Museum on November 17th. They will be looking for volunteers, so please step up and support this effort in any way you can. If you would like to volunteer or Chair a committee, please contact Lauren. Sponsorship chair Dianna Hanken-Hu is already on the job! This is by far our most important fundraiser.
A reminder that this is the last week to view the art show (it travels to the Metropolitan Museum in New York on Thursday). It is an exquisite assemblage of works, as the Times art critic proclaimed. This is also the last week of walk bike public transit, carpool, and do stuff on the weekends week. Remember to mark your child’s name to be counted in this community effort!
Finally, this Friday will be Latino Festival at the Gerding Theater! The clock hands are spinning and we are all trying to keep up.
Have a good week and see you at the outpost!
Alfonso
