February is Communicator Month!

Our January study of principled finished up with two bulletin boards overflowing with examples of principled people from the past and present.  It was an impressive group which included many ISP parents and staff!

The IB Organization (IBO) is very specific about its definition of what skills are required of students to be good communicators.

They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creativelyin more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.

This is based on the fundamental principle of teaching and modeling international mindedness in every aspect of the program to create a more harmonious and compassionate world.

In February we are combining our exploration of this month’s learner profile with a favorite celebration—Valentine’s Day. There are two bulletin boards, one at Hilltop and one in Stearns Hall, where we encourage students to post messages to anyone they like.  These “Messages of Love” can be in any form lending itself to bulletin-board posting. Ideas are valentines, notes, letters, cards, photos, poems, song lyrics, and artwork – 5 x 7 or smaller. Thank you Liann Martin and Summer McChesney for designing and putting together the boards this month!

Assemblies, library, PE, art and music will work together this month to bring this learner profile to life. Prek classes will talk about being “communicators” in their classroom.

Your questions and comments are always welcome.
