Japanese Capstone Blog 2022: March 16th

March 16,  By Leann

Day 3! The excitement for today had been building all week. We started the morning with a scenic drive north to the beautiful and peaceful Byodo-In Temple. Our driver, Gar, entertained us with interesting facts like how to pronounce “muumuu” in Hawaiian.

Many students took the opportunity to ring the bell, feed the fish, and say a little prayer.

Next was a delicious bento lunch and then beach time! Everyone had fun playing in the water and searching for treasures.

We then headed out on a catamaran to snorkel with the turtles!

Just when we thought the day couldn’t get better, our return trip to shore treated us to some whales surfacing!

We ended the day with our last organized group dinner at a local Japanese restaurant. We then all celebrated an amazing day with Hawaiian shave ice for everyone!
