Early Childhood program: 3-5 yr olds

“We feel like we hit the jackpot coming to International School of Portland.”

– Kindergarten Parent

Early Childhood Education is a unique experience at ISP. Children get the attention they deserve in small classes, and are surrounded by warm, encouraging staff who help them thrive as individuals and work together to succeed

ELEMENTARY PROGRAM: Grades 1 through 5

International School of Portland provides an engaging and challenging academic program, taught primarily through language immersion in Japanese, Mandarin, or Spanish. Students develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills as they learn language and subject content.

TRUE IMMERSION

Words, facts, numbers – give them to a child in isolation, and they mostly go “in one ear and out the other”. Like the rest of us, children learn best when they have context and interest in the subject at hand. That is why true immersion is so important.

CELEBRATED IB world program

ISP has been an authorized International Baccalaureate World School since March 2010. Through this concept-driven process, students gain deep content understanding while learning the skills to acquire, organize, and communicate knowledge. It is those skills that enable children to become independent learners, capable of pursuing knowledge beyond the classroom and throughout life.

REVIEWS

WHY FAMILIES LOVE ISP

Nicole Wood

International School of Portland has already exceeded our expectations and we have only been in school a few short months! Our daughter was not doing well in her neighborhood school and was asked to repeat Kindergarten. We took the opportunity to give her a completely different chance at feeling successful and it has paid off. She is interested in learning and enjoys going to school everyday. We cannot be more happy with ISP!

Jake Kuramoto

My daughter has attended ISP for three years, Low-K through 1st grade in Spanish. We definitely plan to keep her there through 5th grade. The teachers and staff are all very nurturing, which is the main criterion we wanted from an early learning school. The curriculum is outstanding both the language-based and the English, and the kids also get excellent art, music and PE instruction as well. We’ve been very happy with ISP; my only complaint is that parking and driving in and out of the location can be quite challenging.

Katherine Cole

Both of our girls go to ISP and absolutely love it. It isn’t just language immersion; it’s a warm and supportive environment for children, with challenging academics. I can’t imagine our kids going anywhere else.

M. Smith

My daughter loves this school and thrives here. She has been taught more in this year of kindergarten than I remember learning before second grade when I was in school. The teachers are all kind and friendly to all of us and make her excited to come to school every day.
