The Owl 1/23/2024

Winter Spirit Week is here!

It’s Winter Spirit Week! We hope that your students are enjoying dressing up! We know that our staff are! Here are the themes for the remainder of the week:

Wednesday, Jan 24th – Animal/Creature Day – both from our world and not!
Thursday, Jan 25th – Pajama Day
Friday, Jan 26th – School Sprit Day – wear any ISP Gear!

School is in Session on Feb 19th

As you are likely aware, ISP builds two extra student days into our school calendar in case of school closures. Since we have now had four school closures, we will need to make up two of the days.

We will now be holding school on Monday, February 19th. This day had been designated as a “snow reserve day” in our calendar, meaning that in case of excessive school closures, we might have school that day instead of observing a holiday. Global Kids will be in session!

The second day will be decided soon and shared with you. We wanted you all to know about the Feb 19th date as quickly as possible.

Silent Auction Opens this Thursday! Come Check things out in-person at our Showcase!

It’s Global Gala Week! The big event is on Saturday, but there are other ways that you can participate, both in person and from afar:

Bid on our Online Silent Auction! Bidding for the online auction will start on January 25 and close at midnight on January 27! The star of the Online Silent Auction will be class art projects, so tune in to bid if you want some amazing student art and other fun baskets and auction items! Auction catalogue coming soon!

Join us on Friday, January 26 for our Art & Silent Auction Showcase! Come on down to the ISP gym from 3p – 4pm this Friday to look at all the student art pieces in person! The Showcase is free to attend and you’re welcome to bring your students to showcase their class art and admire the hard work of their peers!

The International Festival 2024 is Coming February 9th!

As you hopefully know, the ISP International Festival will be on Friday, February 9 at the PCC Sylvania Performing Arts Center. This is a great annual tradition at ISP, and is a lot of fun! The school will be divided into 4 shows.

SHOW 1 | 8:30-9:30 – not final performance order

Katy, Chisa, Yessica, JuYa, Junko, Claudia, Lorena, Gabriela (also in Show 2)
PreK and LowK families are responsible for transporting or arranging their own carpools to bring students directly to the theater and then back to school or home after the show.
Gabriela’s class is also responsible for transporting or arranging their own carpools to bring students to the theater. Remember that someone from your child’s class may be able to help. Parents, pick whichever show time is best for you to come watch! There will be school buses to bring these students back TO school after Show 2.

SHOW 2 | 10:30-11:30 – not final performance order

There will be school buses to bring all classes performing in this show to the theatre, except for Gabriela’s. (They will already be there from the earlier show). Buses will bring all classes FROM the theater back to ISP after the show.
Masami’s class will also perform in Show 3. Parents, pick whichever show time is best for you to come watch! Her class will return to school on the bus after Show 3.

There will be school buses to bring students performing in Show 4 TO the theater.
Performers in this show will be taken home from the theater by their parents; they will not return to campus. This time was selected so that parents with another child at the school have time to drive from PCC and pick them up before 3:30.
