Parent Network Monthly Meeting

Ever wonder what this ISP Parent Network is all about, or how can you be involved at the school? Shake off that sugar hangover and join us for the Monthly Meeting this Thursday, Nov 1.  All meetings are at 8:30am at the Arthur Administration Building (up the hill from the Main Campus, at Water & Corbett).  The meetings are open to all current ISP parents. Yes, you get volunteer hours just for attending!

Our staff and teachers make this school effective, our kids make this school worth it and our parents make this school great! This year, resolve to be an active part of this amazing community. There are so many new friends and parents who are working hard and looking forward to getting to know you. We hope to see you at the meeting!

Love ISP? Tell the world about us!

Here’s a volunteer opportunity that you can do from home, and on your own time: Review ISP!

Prospective families look to online reviews on Yelp, Google, etc to help learn about schools from an “insider” perspective. Many of the reviews are a little dated, so if you wouldn’t mind submitting your thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it!

It’s your review, so say whatever you want!  Some ideas to talk about: how your child is learning here, their general experience, the teachers, or what it’s like to be a parent here. Obviously, since the more positive reviews, the better, I would much prefer it that you highlight the things that you love about the school.

Here are links to International School of Portland’s profile/reviews on common sites:

Google <— Scroll down to the reviews, and click on “Write a Review”

Facebook.com –> Click on the grey “Recommend” button towards the top of ISP’ page.

greatschools.org

yelp.com

savvysource.com

privateschoolreview.com NOTE: Private School Review asks a LOT of questions. You don’t have to answer them all if you don’t want; you can just provide a general review if you prefer.

Once you are done, please remember to record your volunteer hours so that we can properly credit you! That link is here: https://intlschool.org/volunteer

Thank you thank you thank you!!

School Safety – PDX Reporter.org

We are continually monitoring and revising our safety policies and procedures in order to keep our campus safe for all. These are some of the actions that we have taken and are in place already:

  • Daily on-site security patrols in the early morning to prevent or discourage loitering and camps around the school.

  • Our Maintenance Staff does daily sweeps of the grounds.

  • Our safety committee and maintenance staff is in regular correspondence with the Portland Police and other city representatives to increase their awareness of problems in our area.

  • 11 active security cameras throughout campus

  • We have partnered with the South Park Association and Friends of River Place who are doing patrol operations around the clock. ISP parents also engage in bi-monthly clean-up walks to maintain areas around campus and to notify the authorities if there are any problems.

  • The Portland Police office engages in patrol rounds around the neighborhood.

We encourage parents and staff to use PDXreporter.org This is a tool to report campsites, graffiti, needles, etc. Include photos, location and comments where possible. The more complaints they receive, the better the response from the police department. This goes through the Mayor’s office and is taken quite seriously. You can also report camping to reportPDX@PortlandOregon.gov.
