Update from Robert – 09/30

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone stayed dry over the weekend – and that none of your homes had the water issues we had in Stearns Hall. The great news is that, after having severely leaked for many years, the library stayed completely dry. Many thanks to our Facilities Team for that. They will be implementing the same solution to seal the leaking wall in Stearns Hall as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the afternoon pick-up situation. We have more staff outside every day, and we have changed several seemingly subtle details which have improved the service time and safety. Most afternoons, all students have been picked up and the traffic is completely clear by 3:40. I know that pick-up is still frustrating, both for parents and for staff members who will be outside in the rain at pick-up throughout the winter. We must all keep our patience and good humor. We will be meeting with a professional traffic engineer in the coming week to see if we can improve things even further.

Another positive note is that we have started working with the neighborhood committee responsible for parking permits. We have only had permits for about a third of our staff, while the rest have had to carpool and/or risk getting expensive tickets. The committee seems open to our plight – hopefully we will have positive news in the coming weeks.

Have a great week,
