From Board President Matt Schweitzer

I hope that you are having an enjoyable summer filled with quality family time. On behalf of the ISP Board, I would like to welcome Robert Woods, our new Head of School. Robert has been hard at work since July getting ready for the 2012-2013 school year. Board members have been working closely with Robert to provide him as much information as possible about life at ISP. On September 8 the Board will convene for a retreat and executive session, during which we will be setting short and long-term goals for Robert and the school.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a picnic to welcome new families to ISP. As Board President and a parent of 5th grader and a graduate, I was thrilled to see the energy and excitement of families beginning their ISP journey. Our community is rich with culture and ideas, and it was invigorating to be around people who will help ISP continue to grow and develop into the future.

While picnicking, a new parent asked what drove me to serve on the ISP Board. This question made me reflect on ISP as a school and as a community. As global thinkers, we are pushing the boundaries for our kids and ourselves. I have always felt that ISP graduates will be our next community leaders, the people who will lead change as we move forward as a society. Our kids are being given an excellent education, academically as well as experientially, with exposure to multiple cultures and perspectives. This combination will allow them to be able to understand that there is more than one way to look at a situation, and will enable them to make decisions that will move society in a positive direction. I serve on the Board because I want to see that spirit of increased understanding and positive energy grow in our society.

Please give Robert and all of our new families a warm ISP welcome when you see them in September. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer!
