As we enter our 32nd year as a school, we can’t help but feel exhilarated about the future. We feel more confident than ever about our identity as a center of excellence for multicultural education and our unique status as an International Baccalaureate school with three languages under one roof. We think that this time of transition and optimism provides a wonderful opportunity to “reintroduce” our school to the Portland metropolitan area – and to the world!

Therefore, we would like to welcome you to the International School of Portland! 

We also have updated our logo. We sought inspiration for a refreshed look in our existing mascot, the owl.

Owls are found all around the world, and while their cultural significance is as diverse as all the countries represented in our school, they commonly symbolize wisdom, intelligence and knowledge—all qualities we honor and cultivate in education.

Through a process of creative collaboration that included feedback about the school’s core values and character from parents, alumni, teachers, board members and staff, we came to this design:

The owl’s wings stand for the number of language tracks, and when flipped, resemble the letter “E” for English, the common language of our school. The color scheme reflects our vibrancy as a community, our belief in playfulness as an essential vehicle to learning, and our history (the navy blue!).

We are excited to build upon our first 31 years with further growth that retains our foundational values. We are incredibly grateful to those who have helped make our school what it is today, and those contributing to its future. We hope this new look and name represents that.
