As you might already know, TIS has chosen the ACT Aspire test to be our assessment tool for cumulative school performance. This was done as a result of the State of Oregon adopting the Smarter Balanced test for its public schools; private schools are currently not permitted to administer this test.
The ACT is a commonly used college readiness exam. The ACT Aspire test is an elementary-based assessment model that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). At TIS, all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take online tests in Reading and Math only.
This week, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are taking practice tests in order to get familiar with the testing interface and the types of questions. They will then take the Summative test in the spring. As always, parents have the option to excuse their child from testing, or to test in only Math or Reading.
Additional information about the ACT Aspire test is being prepared; it was not quite ready as of press time. It will be sent out shortly.
