The State of Oregon has implemented a temporary rule change regarding excluding students from school in the event of a case of a restrictable disease. The new rule requires that all students who have not been vaccinated (or provided documentation that they are immune or have already had the disease) will be excluded from school if anyone on their campus is found to have contracted a restrictable disease. Previously, students did not have to be excluded unless they showed symptoms of the disease. Restrictable diseases include all diseases for which the state requires vaccination for school attendance.

This rule change has been made in response to an outbreak of restrictable disease in southern Oregon spreading rapidly through an unvaccinated population of students.
