"In the Know" Weekly Newsletter - The International School

Update from Robert Woods - Feb 4

Dear TIS Community Members,

The signs are everywhere, literally, and it is clear that the TIS Annual Fund campaign has begun.  I know, some of you are thinking that this is just another request for money.  Well, you are right, but do you really know where that money goes?

The Annual Fund is what gives TIS the flexibility to take advantage of new ideas.  It empowers us to say, “Yes” instead of “Sorry, you’ll have to wait until next year.”  It is a big part of what moves TIS forward.

For example, while the Auction Special Appeal funded more student laptops, the Annual Fund this year is paying for educational software. A healthy Annual Fund can also enable a special field trip, a unique professional development opportunity, or an important facilities need. Income from the Annual Fund is unrestricted and readily available, so the school can use it for maximum effect.

That said, the Annual Fund isn’t only about the dollars raised. Donor foundations and accrediting organizations look to the Annual Fund to see whether our own community is engaged. Parent participation shows that TIS has the support of its families, increasing the likelihood that the foundations will support us too. Your donation – no matter the size - can help us get additional resources for the school. That is why we strive for 100% parent participation - with every family donating to the Annual Fund every year.

Special thanks to Lori Schallich for chairing the Annual Fund effort this year.  We also thank Lori and her husband Terry for making a leadership donation to help get our campaign started.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Annual Fund so far this year! Click here to see the list. I appreciate your continued support of TIS and any contribution you can make to this year’s Annual Fund. Please make your donation at intlschool.org/donatenow, and complete the parent survey as well at intlschool.org/survey (more on that below). Moving TIS forward is truly a community effort.
