If you have ever thought about recording and preserving your family’s history, you’ll want to know about Ryan White. Ryan is a Portland-based oral historian with a degree from Columbia University’s unique Masters of Oral History program. This past summer Ryan interviewed TIS founders Doug and Frey Stearns to record the history of our school. I had long thought that some day I would interview Doug and Frey, but I’m so glad Ryan did it instead. Ryan created a connection with Doug & Frey that made them feel at ease. His outside perspective made him ask questions and gently solicit details that I would have left out. Ryan helped them share their personal histories and stories that provide real insight into the conception and development of TIS.
Holidays are a great time to think about preserving family stories. Contact Ryan White at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about how he can help preserve the stories of a parent’s life, a child’s birth or adoption, a special love, or a meaningful organization.
