PTO Meeting Guest Speaker on Positive Discipline – Wed January 12th at 6:30

We hope you can join us at our first PTO meeting of the year.  This month we are honored to have Julia Tomes, MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching), speak to our parents on  Positive Discipline.  This talk will be primarily targeted for school age children, but many of the concepts can be adapted for all children.

Childcare is offered for TIS students only (please no non-TIS siblings) and space is limited.  If you expect to use childcare, please RSVP to Kirsten Lee by end of day Monday, January 8th. Be sure to include how many children and their ages in your RSVP so that we can get an accurate count and plan accordingly.

"Positive Discipline is for parents who are looking for useful tools that produce long-term results.  This method teaches parents how to encourage their children to be self-motivated, become more responsible, and gain greater respect for themselves and others. Positive Discipline classes are full of practical and non-punitive techniques that allow for kind and firm parenting.  Parents learn how to get to the core of their child's misbehavior and create a happier home environment.

Julia has a Masters of Arts in Teaching in elementary and secondary education and is trained in Montessori Ed. For pre-primary.  She has taught 5-8 in public schools as well as Montessori preschool.  Julia has two children and experiences daily practice using the tools of Positive Discipline."
