Invest in inquiry: Special appeal for math and science

Science and math help us answer our questions about everyday life. Our students have such natural curiosity and so many questions about the world. On November 13, raise your paddle to provide them with the tools to explore, investigate, problem-solve, and own the answers to their questions. With sufficient resources and quality lessons, our students will learn and love science and math. As they learn to acquire, organize, and communicate knowledge, our students will become capable of pursuing knowledge beyond the classroom and throughout life.

With your support, we will be able to purchase math and science:

  • Classroom learning resources

  • Faculty professional development

  • Library materials

(See next week's In the Know for more specific details.)

How does the special appeal work?
On November 13, during the live auction, attendees can raise their paddles to make a donation to the special appeal. The auctioneer calls out a donation amount (starting at the highest amount expected) and attendees raise their paddle to donate the amount they desire to give. Some attendees raise their paddles at several levels.

What if I don't want everyone to know what I am giving?
You can also give at checkout or using the forms that will be on the table.

What if I want to support the special appeal, but cannot attend the auction?
We will accept donations for the special appeal until December 31. Here is how to contribute:

  • You may write a check to the International School and indicate Special Appeal in the note and send it to school attention "Development Office" or deliver to any of the receptionists.

  • You may click on the Donate Now button found in this newsletter and on every TIS webpage. At program designation, select special appeal.
You may also donate online at, by clicking the registration tab and choosing the donate option at "Support the special appeal" section at the bottom of the page.
