PTO meeting highlights & reminders

Hello from your Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)!
Thanks to all of the families, staff and faculty who attended the first PTO meeting.  It was great to see all of you.  We are off to a great start to the 2009 - 2010 school year.

A few important reminders -

  • Always read InTheKnow, usually published every Monday and sent out via e-mail.  This is the #1 source of school news!

  • Many important items for parents are left in each student’s classroom folder. Make sure you know where this folder is and check it regularly.

  • If you have an idea or concern that you would like to have discussed at a PTO meeting, please let us know in advance.  You can contact any of the PTO Officers individually or simply send an e-mail to

  • Run for the Arts is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29. Volunteers are needed!  Contact Joan Francis

  • SCRIP order forms will be put in every student’s classroom folder.  Families can advance purchase gift cards/gift certificates at hundreds of retailers and a portion of the sale goes to the school.  If every family at TIS purchased $100 worth of SCRIP for groceries per week during the school year- the school would receive $48,000. Questions?  Contact Jackie Myers

  • The Auction, the school’s biggest fundraiser, is Saturday, November 14. Volunteers are needed!  Every Auction Ticket Purchased comes with a raffle ticket for a chance to win FREE tuition for the 2010-2011 School Year! Volunteering for the Auction is a great way to meet parents from all language tracks.  Questions or to volunteer

  • There will be an evening session to discuss homework guidelines and other issues, Wed October 14 at 6:30pm.  Pay attention to InTheKnow for details.

  • Andrea Paluso ( is heading the Green Committee this year.  There are lots of opportunities for parents to get involved to make the school an even healthier environment.
