Portland Transportation meeting

Sum-up: Portland's Bureau of Transportation meeting for potential SW Portland bicycle transportation improvement project,  Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, August 20, Multnomah Arts Center, 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Portland is currently in the process of expanding the network of family-friendly bicycle streets. The segment of Southwest Terwilliger/Westwood between SW Vermont to SW Terwilliger is a low traffic street ideal for a bicycle boulevard designation and provides connections to routes throughout Southwest Portland, including The International School. Please join your neighbors in helping City staff identify key improvements to increase safety for all modes and specifically improve bicycle access.

NOTE: Funding for the entire project will be provided by the Bureau of Transportation.

The Bureau of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting to discuss the potential project with your neighbors. At the first meeting, Transportation staff will provide an overview of bicycle boulevards, review existing traffic conditions, and hear your feedback. City staff will return for a second meeting to present recommendations on specific improvements.

Bicycle Boulevards are good for schools because they lessen the number of cars on the road and lower the average speed of moving traffic. By doing this, they also provide safer routes to school for students and families to utilize. Please consider attending the following meetings to help support your school and Bicycle Boulevard improvements in your neighborhood:

Date:  Thursday, July 23 (FIRST meeting)

Thursday, August 20 (SECOND meeting)

Place: Multnomah Arts Center (Room 30), 7688 SW Capitol Hwy

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm
