PTO Notes

Thanks to everyone who participated in the stakeholder sessions last week. Many parents contributed to the process by providing input/feedback on Core Values/Guiding Principles/Mission/Vision and this feedback was provided to the Board of Trustees. Watch ITK for updates on the strategic planning process and the values/mission/vision adopted by the board. The next stakeholder drop-in sessions will be held on February 10th/11th from 2:30-6:00 in Stearns Hall. This will be an opportunity to review the goals/strategies/actions developed by the planning committee and provide additional input.
Anybody who returned a comment card during the stakeholder session was entered into a raffle and two names were drawn. Congratulations to Becky Schultz and Lisa Goldberg for being the lucky winners of a free one hour massage.

Wow! We had a great turnout for the garden clean-up on Saturday morning. Weeding, pruning, repairing of bins, moving of soil, and trash clean up were accomplished with the help of the Abernathy, Armstrong, Beber, Calder, Cargill, Lamb, Prince, Richman, and Tuepker families. Special thanks to Russell Adamson for spearheading the event and to Priscilla Lane for her continued support of the garden especially since her daughter graduated three years ago. Priscilla has coordinated the gardening projects as well as the garden curriculum education for the kindergartners and 1st graders for many years and her hard work is much appreciated. Russell will be joining Priscilla as a new garden coordinator. Stay tuned to ITK for further information about the next clean up scheduled for March as we prepare for Spring.

Remember the IB/PYP night coming up on February 12th from 6:30-7:30 in the gymnasium. This will give parents an opportunity to learn more about this educational model as well as have a look at the new gym floor. BTW...It's beautiful! During this event, the library will also introduce “TrackTales," a storytime in the target languages where both student and adult volunteers will read to groups of students from picture books chosen to reflect qualities associated with specific IB PYP Attitudes. Registered students will be collected at 6:40 pm from the childcare area and escorted to the library and returned to childcare after storytime at about 7:20 pm. The library committee would like the children to pre-register so they have an idea of how many readers they will need so please contact Kim Braun at with your child's name, track, and age.
