Earthquake drills

TIS students will be learning more about earthquakes in the next few weeks in preparation for our regular earthquake drills. The students will be learning age-appropriate lessons about what an earthquake might feel like, what to do during an earthquake, and how their response to an earthquake should differ from their response to a fire. They will be learning to protect themselves under a desk or sturdy table, cover their heads, stay away from windows, and then after the shaking stops to go with their class outside away from the buildings.

The school will be signaling earthquake drills with air horns to differentiate them from fire drills. We will be bringing the horn around to classes to help the students feel more prepared and less afraid when the actual drills start.
