PTO meeting

Notwithstanding some very inclement weather, many parents attended the PTO meeting held last Wednesday evening at the school. Thanks to the organizational efforts of PTO president Paula Prince, the meeting was informative across a broad range of endeavours. The presentations included an IB-PYP overview from Erika Kohn, a modular slope update from Board vice-president Kim Marcus, a city traffic planning update from Portland Dept of Transportation (PDOT) project manager Art Pearce, and an auction update from Kate Schweitzer and Mark Jones.

Communication framework

The school's Marketing & Communications Director, Linda Bonder, and I presented the new communication framework for the school at the PTO meeting. The document serves as a template to guide effective and appropriate paths of communication for a well-running independent school. The process leading to the creation of this document for TIS was long and involved, resulting in a framework that will serve the people of the school as the organization moves through its next stages of growth.

Linda and I offer our many thanks to Jhoanna Co for her help in facilitating the Skype technology for the evening so that I could attend the meeting.  Through Skype, email, and telephone, I remain fully engaged in my role for the school.

New drop-off and pick-up times to begin December 1, 2008

Principal Maria Abad reminds everyone that this new schedule, which will provide improved service to parents and teachers in terms of drop-off and pick-up times, commences December 1st.
