Run Club

Class Name: Run Club
Grades Offered: (Wed) K; (M,Tu, W,Th) 1st thru 5th
Day(s) Offered: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays. (*Please see note below!)

Class description: The goal of this program is to build attachment to a life-long activity and an affinity for a physically active lifestyle. Parents report that their child does their best (school work, eating, and sleeping) while participating in the after school running classes. Young runners experience joy, camaraderie and growing self-confidence, all while increasing their strength and endurance. I have been introducing the joy of running to children at The International School for the last 15 years.

Safety is of upmost importance. Hands are held walking down the street, a run ahead is often met with a cautious ‘Hey wait!’, or ‘Stop’. Safety is the priority.

There are opportunities to walk and go easy at times, but the class is designed so they will eventually sustain a prolonged pace. It is wonderful to see them embrace longer nonstop running and discover a strengthening body’s confidence. We run rain or shine, so dress appropriately!

As with any of my classes, if you start out and it is evident that your child does not want to continue, I can return your pro-rated portion. Parents are always welcome to run with the group. I have had parents join every year for some of the runs.
