4/4: PE

We are in training now for our mile run coming up in May. Students begin each class with a run outdoors of at least a half-mile. They will build on that distance as they gain endurance and improve stamina to just over two miles. Once we work up to a two miles distance, we will switch to aerobic fitness to work on wind capacity allowing the runners to keep a stronger pace.

In addition to the running, third grade students are working with badminton racquets. Work includes self volleying a shuttlecock, volleying with a partner and serving over a net. I want them to get the feel for direction of the face of the racquet when aiming; as well as an understanding of distance from their hands to the face of the racquet.
