The Owl Weekly Parent Newsletter 1/27/20

Parent Teacher Conference Sign Ups

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on February 14th and the afternoon of February 18th. Just like this past Fall, we are having conferences BEFORE report cards are released.

These conferences are for Homeroom Teachers and Art, Music, & PE Specialists. Winter conferences with English Specialists are initially by invitation-only. The English Specialists will contact you directly if they would like to talk to you about your child’s progress. We will then open them up for general signups a week prior to the conference dates.

To sign up for your Homeroom, Art, Music, and PE conferences:

– Go to http://ptcfast.com/schools/The_International_School

– Check off the names of all the teachers that you want conferences with for all your ISP students.

– Tell the system that these conferences are for different students – next screen will ask which conference is for which child.

– The system will send a link to your e-mail. Check your email, click on the link.

– The system will give you side-by-side availability for all the teachers you selected – just click the conferences that you want!

 – Then it will send you a confirmation for all the conferences you signed up for.

Candy Trujillo is organizing the conferences this time around.  If you have any questions or issues with the system, please contact her at CandyT@intlschool.org

Author Visit: Kate Milford

ISP 5th graders were privileged to have had a visit from award-winning writer Kate Milford last week. Powell’s Books was kind enough to sponsored the author of the Greenglass House series at our school. She is known for creating imaginative worlds and strong, complex characters.

Milford’s first book in the series, Greenglass House, is listed was as one of the top 50 Young Adult novels in the past 20 years by Booklist magazine and it won the Edgar Award for “Best Kids Mystery” the year it was published.

The New York Times wrote that:

“One of Ms Milford’s strengths is her faith in her readers’ ability to figure stuff out, and her obsessions with history, folklore and mechanical contraptions give her brainiac fans plenty to chew on.”

We are honored to have had this opportunity!
