ISP Spirit Week is Next Week!
In collaboration with the ISP Parent Network, we invite all community members to share in some fun and simple daily activities to show off our school spirit. Spirit Week will happen the first full week back, from January 13-16:

Thanks to you, we raised over $122,500 for the annual fund – and counting!!! Congratulations! Each and every one of us here at ISP is beyond grateful for everything this community did to rally around this record-breaking amount. You’ll be hearing more from us as we call, text, email or (gasp!) snail mail you with further expressions of our gratitude. A world of thanks to Ed Clark and Janet Roberts, along with the entire ISP Board of Trustees. They presented our community with our initial $50,000 dollar-for-dollar matching challenge gift this fall. Thank you as well to alumna parent Rich Read (Nehalem ’09), who called and surprised us with an extra $10,000 end-of-year matching challenge. Want to share your love of ISP with prospective families? Become a ISP Admissions Ambassador! Admissions season is now in full swing, and we could use some help with chatting with families who are interested in enrolling their children at the school. Prospective families really value hearing from people like YOU about your family’s experience at the school! Parents with children in all grades and tracks welcome. You’d get assigned 3-5 families a month to reach out to via email or phone and say hello and offer to answer any questions that they may have. It would take 1-2 hours a month maximum, through May. Assessment is the means by which schools and teachers measure student learning. It’s a big topic, so we will attempt to break it down into the following sections:

For January, faculty will be focusing on “Principled.” DESCRIPTOR: They act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them. IB students are infused with the academic integrity that is a fundamental value of universities and colleges. Our school has 11 teams that will be competing in the school-wide OBOB tournament on 2/12/20. The winner of the ISP competition will advance to the Regional competition, hosted by ISP on 2/29/20. These are really fun events. This will be the second year we host the Regional Competition with elementary schools from across SW Portland coming to ISP to compete for the title of Regional Champions. That team will then go on to compete at the State Finals in April. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! To successfully run these two events, we need a minimum of 6 volunteers per event. Welcome back! The first Parent Network monthly meeting of 2020 is this Thursday, January 9 at 8:15am at the Arthur Administration Building conference room, up the street from the Main Campus. Parent Network meetings are open to all ISP parents. Keepin’ It Clean Campus Walk – 2nd & 3rd Grades
Parents in Grades 2 and 3 are invited to participate in our campus Keepin It Clean Walk next Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 from 8:15 am to 9:15 am. International School of Portland is surrounded by several open areas. While they are not part of campus property, we would like to help keep them clean and safe. We notice that debris near campus piles up during breaks, so please come help if you can! Each scheduled “Keepin’ It Clean” walk has been assigned to a grade. These are not required, but we hope to encourage ISP parents, relatives, or caregivers to walk together, socialize, and to keep our campus safe and clean. Meet at the Learners’ Hall front entrance. Global Kids Alternative Day Programming Open ISP Community Service Day. Join ISP friends for a day of community service at the Oregon Food Bank. We will be helping to repackage bulk food to be delivered to families in need in our community and access the state.
