Reminder: No After School Classes Today!
Today, October 22, Regular Global Kids and 3rd Party activities are NOT in session due to Parent Teacher conferences. All students MUST be picked up after school by 3:45pm UNLESS they are signed up for the a la carte Global Kids Alternative Day program on October 22 (open 3:10-6:00pm). You may enroll in Global Kids Alternative Days online in your CampSite Account. For a complete list of Global Kids Alternative Days and closures please see our calendar. Questions? Registration is now open for the Virtual Education Town Hall on Tuesday, October 29th from 6:00p to 7:30pm. Please “join” us! In preparation , we invite you to complete a quick 4-question survey that will allow you to let our Educational Leadership Team (ELT) know what you want to talk about!! We will then sort and group your questions to identify priorities and allow the ELT to respond most effectively and efficiently during the meeting. As a reminder, the parking spot on the Learners’ Hall courtyard is reserved for individuals with disabilities qualified under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The parking spot creates a more viable pathway for campus access. The courtyard entrance is up Caruthers Street and to the right. Please leave it available to those that need to use it most. Fall Costume Parade
Get ready for the annual Fall Costume Parade! It will be held on Thursday, October 31 from 8:45-9:45am. Students, Families, and Staff are encouraged to dress up! Please, no weapons of any kind (light sabers are weapons), no bloody wounds or very scary masks, and no costumes that drag on the ground or otherwise interfere with walking. Students can put on masks or long capes ONLY for the parade and must take them off again after the parade. No candy, please (most kids will get enough of that Halloween night)! What’s Happening at Global Kids?
Students have been delving into the dirt, tapping out rhythms, and getting in touch with their bodies and feelings in Global Kids this semester. Last Friday’s first full day Alternative Day was a blast! Students did activities based around the theme of sustainability and recycling, including the Trash/recycling sorting relay with Enrichment Teacher Sarah Baker. Watch the relay in action here.

TUESDAY, OCT 22 Keepin’ it Clean Campus Walk – 4th and 5th Grades (afternoon session). Join fellow ISP parents as we walk the perimeter of the school picking up trash, removing graffiti, cutting back invasive plants. Trash bags, pickers, gloves, graffiti removal supplies provided. Optional, Adults only. Meet at 2:00pm near the front gates at the Hilltop Building. Be sure to record your volunteer hours! 2pm – 3pm Parent Teacher Conferences – After School. Global Kids Alternative Day Open; No third-party after school classes. ——————— FRIDAY, OCT 25 Preschool & Kindergarten Open House for Prospective Families. If you know a family who may be interested in learning more about ISP, please have them come to the Open House! Arrive anytime between 9am – 12pm; Learners’ Hall ——————— TUESDAY, OCT 29 Virtual Education Town Hall Education Town Halls allow you to pose your questions or comments about any part of the academic program of International School of Portland. The ISP Education Leadership Team (ELT) consists of: Robert Woods, Head of School; Maria Abad, Head of Early Childhood; Bodo Heiliger, Head of Elementary; Kelly Rogers, International Baccalaureate PYP Coordinator; and TimiSue Abbott, Student Support Services Coordinator. 6:00-7:30pm, Learners Hall ——————— WEDNESDAY, OCT 30 – MONDAY, NOV 4 Dia de los Muertos – Ofrenda. Stop by the entrance to Learner’s Hall this week to see the beautiful and vibrant ofrenda set up by several of our Mexican teachers in the Spanish track. View artwork and writing created by ISP students. Contribute to the exhibit by adding a name or copy of a photo of one of your ancestors or family members who has died to our ofrenda. ——————— THURSDAY, OCT 31 Fall Costume Parade!
