Welcome, Dan!

We are pleased to introduce our new librarian, Dan Kelley!  Dan is coming to us after working at Reed College and Lewis & Clark College. He spent a year before University on a Fulbright High School exchange in Germany, and led semester abroad programs to Tanzania, Ecuador, and Australia.

  • Master’s in Library Sciences, University of Maryland
  • BA in History and Political Science, Indiana University
  • Over 20 years experience

Here is a note from Dan:

I am delighted to be joining TIS this year! I’m looking forward to working with teachers to help develop strong readers and curious minds. I want to help the kids learn to love stories, and to help them learn to tell their own stories as well! I’m excited to collaborate with the diverse group of teachers on the IB curriculum and to contribute to a community that values international education.

Like most librarians I enjoy reading, gardening and cats. Perhaps unlike most librarians I enjoy playing sports (Ultimate Frisbee, ping pong, basketball and soccer) and competitive board games.  I have a lovely family that I adore, which includes my wife, our 12 year old son and our 15 year old daughter, and a Belgian Sheepdog named Zizou. We like to get out into nature whenever we can, and we are all committed global explorers.

Welcome, Dan!

Welcome, Melody!

We would like to welcome Melody Chang to TIS! Melody will be teaching First Grade in the Chinese track.

Stick around to play Douse the Principal – a water balloon game that is sure to be as much as a hit as it was last year!

If you can’t make it to the Parent Information Fair, never fear!  You can find out all about volunteering at TIS by visiting   We need every parent or family to lend a hand!
