Do you love the ISP Library?

Do you love the ISP library? Here are three ways to show us your love:

  1. Return all library books today.  There are still over 500 books checked out from the library (not counting those still being used for Units of Inquiry).  We need all books back in the library so we can run inventory and prepare for the first stage of our library remodel!

  2. Come support the ISP Library at the Scholastic Book Fair, May 28 – 31st.  We still need volunteers Wednesday and Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.  Contact Heidi Evans, hevans@intlschool.org, to sign up.  Books purchased at the fair earn Scholastic Dollars which ISP can use to buy books for the library.  Plus, this year, families can purchase a Scholastic Book to donate to the Children’s Book Bank.  Talk about a win-win-win situation!

  3. Volunteer in the library to assist us with re-shelving those last 500 books, putting all books in order, and running inventory!  We have lots of fun projects you can help with as we get ready for the love being poured into the library this summer!

Thank you all for spreading the love and supporting literacy across languages, cultures, genres, and forms!

Host for ISP Spanish Intern Needed

This Fall we will be welcoming another intern to ISP, courtesy of the Spanish Ministry of Education and the International Spanish Academy.  No matter your language track, you can bring Spanish culture into your home by hosting an intern from Spain. ISP has hosted five wonderful interns in the past who were a great addition to the family who opened their doors to them.

While we are are not sure of their identity yet, our intern most likely will arrive in late September and stay until June. Splitting the year between 2-3 families is also possible.

– Maria Abad, Head of Early Childhood, MAbad@intlschool.org, 503-226-2496;100

The host family needs to provide room and board.  ISP will provide a monthly bus pass. Please contact Maria Abad directly if you are interested in hearing more details.

Interested in Girl Scouts?

Hello, parents of soon-to-be Kindergarteners!

Several LowK parents are interested in starting a Girl Scouts troop for our kindergarten girls this fall (Daisies). There are currently two other Girl Scout troops at ISP. It’s really fun and a great way for students to make friends in different classes and language tracks. If your daughter is interested, please let me know!

Also, please let me know if you’d be interested in being a co-leader! Typically, the troop meets after school every two weeks.
