The Owl Weekly Parent Bulletin 1/7/2019

Welcome Back! ISP Spirit Week is Next Week!

Happy New Year! We are excited to open up school with the second annual ISP Spirit Week!

In collaboration with the ISP Parent Network, we invite all community members to share in some fun and simple daily activities to show off our school spirit. Spirit Week will happen the first full week back, from January 7-11:

January 7 – Mix & Match Outfit Day: Wear mismatched or backwards clothes. The sillier, the better!

January 8 – Hat Day: Baseball caps, beanies, something funky – any hat will do! No masks, please.

January 9 – Crazy Hair Day: What sort of silly and wild hairstyles can you come up with?

January 10 – Comfy Day: Furry pants! Fuzzy sweaters! Favorite PJs! Come to school comfy on this cold winter day!

January 11 – ISP Spirit Day: Wear your ISP gear. Students will be participating in community-building assemblies scheduled throughout the day.

Global Kids Survey – How Are We Doing?

Has your student attended an after school activity this year? Whether the answer is yes or no, we want to hear from you! Please complete this BRIEF survey (1-3 minutes) about the new Global Kids Extended-day Program. We want to know what works well for families and identify areas for growth.

If you’d like more information about the Global Kids program to-date, please check your inbox for an email from meredithf@intlschool.org for a more comprehensive summary of highlights and takeaways from the first months of the program.

Your feedback is invaluable! The Global Kids survey will close January 31.

Drop-in requests for Global Kids now open online!

You are now able to login to your SchoolsBuddy account to request drop-in participation in Global Kids up to two weeks in advance. After you submit your request for drop-in through your SchoolsBuddy account, you will receive an initial email letting you know we received your request (this email is not a confirmation of participation). Keepin’ It Clean Campus Walks – All Grades

Parents in ALL Grades are invited to participate in our campus Keepin It Clean Walk next Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 8:15 am to 9:15 am. Meet at Hilltop front gate. Gloves, pickers, and trash bags provided.

International School of Portland is surrounded by several open areas. While they are not part of campus property, we would like to help keep them clean and safe. As such, ISP has “Keepin’ It Clean” walks that operate in partnership with Friends of Riverplace (a neighborhood organization) and the City of Portland’s Office of Community and Civic Life. During these events, groups of volunteers walk the land surrounding the school to pick up trash, remove graffiti, and report concerns.

Each scheduled “Keepin’ It Clean” walk has been assigned to a grade.  These are not required, but we hope to encourage ISP parents, relatives, or caregivers to walk together, socialize, and to keep our campus safe and clean.

Your help is needed! These count towards parent volunteer hours! Adults only.
