1st Graders Raise Money for UNICEF

A big belated thank you to our first grade students, who participated in “Trick or Treat for UNICEF” this year. First grade students learned about common needs of children and how UNICEF helps children in the world. They also learned some PYP learner profiles through this unit: caring, thinker, and communicator. They spent time to inquire and find out about children in different communities and wanted to help children who do not have all basic needs. They made posters for Trick or Treat for UNICEF, collected, and sorted money.

The receipts just came in from UNICEF; the  total amount that students raised was $732.37!!  This amount of money itself will provide life saving nutrition for over 700 malnourished children.

We are proud of our caring, open-minded, and principled students and their actions. They are the global citizens who will change our world in better way.

Thank you so much to all of our participants, and to everyone who contributed! Special thanks to ISP Japanese track teacher Akiko Grimm for helping to organize this project.
