Host Families Needed for Chinese Exchange Students

Dear TIS parents,
When my daughter was in 2nd grade we hosted an exchange student from China.  She brought so much to our family!  We were able to incorporate more Chinese culture, cooking and language into our home.  It was a great experience and, besides being a wonderful addition to my daughter’s education, it provided us with “family” to visit during our recent Capstone trip.

CIEE is currently looking for a host family for a Chinese high school student looking to go to school in the greater Portland area (including Riverdale).  “Le” has just finished 10th grade in China and is looking forward to spending a year in America and living with her host family.  She enjoys sports and student government and is interested in journalism.  Le wants to learn more about our culture and share her culture with your family.  She has a little brother and would love to be “big sister” to your child(ren).

CIEE exchange students arrive in late August and stay until the end of school in June.

If you are interested in hosting Le or another exchange student, please contact Tonya Rourke at CIEE, 503-702-7265.  If you have questions about our experience being a host family, feel free to contact TIS parent Sharyn Marcuson, 503-351-1478.
