Walk & Bike Challenge Month is Coming in May

Walk + Bike Challenge Month encourages students and families to walk, bike and roll to school and in their neighborhoods. TIS is a participating school; look for sign up sheets, stickers, tattoos, and more at the front desks coming soon.

TIS will also be celebrating National Bike to School Day on Wednesday, May 6th. Last year over 2,200 schools participated across the country!

Join Safe Routes to School for our 5th annual Spring Kick-Off to celebrate walking, biking and rolling. This is a free family-fun event celebrating health, safety, and physical fitness. There will be lots of activities for parents, students, and younger children, plus a $6 helmet sale and raffle drawing to win a bike and other fun prizes!
When:  Saturday, April 25th, 10 am – 1 pm (with Community Ride leaving the school at 1 pm and returning at 2 pm)
Where: Harvey Scott K-8 School, 6700 NE Prescott St. Portland, OR 97218
Bring your bicycle or borrow one from our fleet to participate in the Bike Rodeo, Learn to Ride a Bike Class, and the Community Bike Ride. Volunteer mechanics will also be available for free basic bike repair until 1 pm.
We will have a crafts table set up with walk and bike-related art projects, friendly folks available to talk map reading and safe route planning in your neighborhood, an instructor teaching how to fix a flat bike tire or start a Walking School Bus, and a free healthy lunch will be served at noon to the first 120 people.
We hope to see you there! For more information, email saferoutes@portlandoregon.gov or call Carolina at 503-823-1189.
