Field Trips
Field trips are an important part of International Baccalaureate learning; teachers will arrange class field trips to align with the program of inquiry. Each student will be given one school t-shirt per year which they must wear on field trips. If a shirt is lost or otherwise unavailable on field trip day, the parent should get a new one in the Stearns Hall office for $8.
As part of the registration process, all parents are asked to sign a permission slip allowing their child to go on all class field trips for the year. At least ten days before any field trip, parents will be notified via e-mail explaining the destination, time of day, purpose, and transportation options. Children without signed permission slips will stay with another class during the field trip.
Parents must provide car seats – clearly labeled with the child’s name – for children under 60 lbs and for any other children requiring a car seat. Parents must indicate on the field trip permission slip that the child requires the use of a car seat.
We rely on parent chaperones to assist during field trips. Prior to the field trip, chaperones are required to:
- Have criminal background check on file at the school office
- Give a copy of their driver’s license and current auto insurance to the receptionist
- Provide a cell phone number for emergency contact.
- This information will be kept on file for two years
