School Supplies ’11-’12
For 2011-2012 school year most school supplies are included in tuition. Included supplies such as copy paper, notebooks, construction paper, pencils, pens, erasers, glue, paint, and modeling clay will be ordered by the teacher and distributed to students as needed for class lessons. This system is designed to maximize effectiveness and efficiency while minimizing waste and storage needs.
For each grade and track there is also a short list of durable supplies that the student is asked to bring on the first day of school. The durable supplies are items that often last from one year to the next such as geometry sets, rulers, pencil boxes, pencil sharpeners, scissors and dictionaries. Many students have those supplies from the prior year.
School Supplies Q&A
Will my child receive a set of supplies from the teacher at the start of the year?
In the younger grades, consumable supplies are shared among all students in the class, so they will be kept in common receptacles. In older grades, students will receive supplies to keep in their desk as the teacher deems appropriate (i.e. notebooks, erasers, pencils, etc).
What will happen with supplies left over at the end of the year?
If there are consumable supplies remaining at the end of the year, they will be used for the following year. Durable supplies brought by students should be brought home at the end of the school year.
What if my child did not bring home his/her durable supplies at the end of the prior year?
If durable supplies are not brought home at the end of one school year, parents will have to replace them if they are required by the teacher for the following school year.
Are art and music supplies covered in tuition?
No. Art and music supplies are funded through the Run for the Arts fundraiser in the fall.
